Benefits for Children

With the New Year approaching, the need for Martial Arts for children is greater than ever. Thirty years ago there was little distraction for kids, less options, it was simple growing up. Today, it is totally different; kids are subject to much more than older generations were. There is more pressure in children today and choosing an activity is something that few parents have the time to do.

Martial Arts is an individual sport. It is something that will build your child’s spirit. While team sports are good to show children how to work with others, the Martial Arts teaches both teamwork and individual practice. Children move at their own pace, train for their own needs, and practice for their personal best. When they want to quit, the only people they are letting down is them.

As your children grow up, they will be faced with many personal decisions. With martial arts training, they will be given the tools to make the right decision on their own. Through teaching self-discipline and character development, Martial Arts grooms your child to be a leader. We are not suggesting that your children not participate in team sports, however we are suggesting having your children participate in something that will develop their self-discipline and spirit.

I have been working for the past year on some really interesting projects in regards to the martial arts. I am now working with schools in almost every state. This opportunity has allowed me to make an even larger impact to members of the community. This year we would like to have any members of our school to participate in a really great thing for people who are less fortunate.

During the past year, everyone has had a tough time with the economy. Some people can no longer go on vacation, some people can no longer get that special dinner with a loved one, and some people have been hurt far worse. Then there are those who are in far worse shape that anyone can imagine.

There are families and people in the local community who have no food or shelter. We are now starting a drive at our school that will go through January 2010. If you would like to assist or be a part of this please respond to this post and we will contact you and tell you how you can help.

I look forward to working with other people who are trying to make a difference and show the youth that giving back of the community is our duty.

We wanted to let everyone know that Sensei Joe and his wife Ari, just had a baby. Ashton James Hamilton is the newest member of the Champions family. We would like to congratulate Sensei Joe and Ari.

Thanks to all the parents and students for their generous gifts for baby Ashton.

  I just wanted to share with all the students and families that I was recently promoted to 4th degree black belt under Master Farid Dordar. It was one of the greatest martial arts events I have ever participated in. The atmospherewas so positive and the 5 other candidates that I tested with made me feel so comfortable testing in another country.

  Thanks to Sensei Preston for coming out and being my partner for the self defense part of the testing. In addition I had to do a musical form, weapons forms, sparring, basics, board breaking, and conditioning.

I would also like to thank Jon Malach, Nicole, Mariko, Bonnie from CWAY, Master Farid and Sensei Insgrid, and Sensei Dean for their support.

I can’t take credit for what I’m about to share with you. I just finished reading the 360 degree leaders by John Maxwell, and I wanted to share with you some great material that could benefit you. While Champions is growing every day, my main job is to work with the school owners on Leadership Development.

For any leaders out there that need some great material for their weekly Monday Staff Meeting here you go:

The 7 Myths of Leading from the Middle of An Organization

1. The Position Myth-”I can’t lead, if I’m not at the top.” Educate your staff that they can be leader now. It will help the company.

2. The Destination Myth-”When I get to the top, then I’ll learn how to Lead.”

3. The Influence Myth-”If I were on the top, then people would follow me.”

4. The Inexperience Myth-”When I get to the Top, then people would follow me.”

5. The Freedom Myth-”When I get to the top, I’ll no longer be limited.”

6. The Potential Myth-I can’t reach my potential if I’m not the top leader.”

7. The All or nothing Myth: “If I can’t get to the top, then I won’t try to lead.”
