20 Days until the seminars

August 13, 2007

With 20 days left until the womens self defense month begins, I have been preparing and doing more research. The more research I do, the more apparent it becomes to me. The biggest key is awareness. This sounds so simple, and it is. The challenge is getting the women to actually attend the seminar. The more women that we can get to try a self defense course, the better chance we have to improve the horrible stats that I’m about to show you.

1. Campus Crimes

     a. In 2005-189,448 crimes were reported on college campuses

     b. In 2001-More than 97,000 students between the ages of 18 and 24 were victims of alcohol related assault or date rape.

2. Domestic Violence

    a. In 2005-389,100 women were victimized by a intimate partner

    b. Of female murder victims-33% were killed by their husbands or boyfriends

    c. Approximately 1 in 5 high school girls reported being abused by a boyfriend

Please forward this to all your contacts! And call today to register you for a seminar. Please come back mid week to see more tips for women. I will be attaching some videos that will cover some basic self defense moves. Make sure to check back!

More Tips for Women

August 8, 2007

I was talking to a friend and we were discussing some tips for women. She brought up a good point. The IPOD! She explained how it leaves women in a very bad position. The worst time to use one would be while walking through the park, or going for a jog around the block. Awareness is one of the most important things regarding self defense. You would never hear someone coming from behind, think twice before using your MP3 or IPOD again.

Speaking of awareness, the other tip I wanted to talk about was the way you walk. A woman that is walking with her head up and shoulders back is less likely to be a victim than a woman walking with her head down and shoulders forward. It’s all about confidence! Walk with your head up, look in all directions, and look confident.

10 Tips for Women

August 6, 2007

I was talking to a woman who told me that one in every four women in America will be sexually assaulted in her lifetime. When I heard this I didn’t believe it. Can you believe it? It’s true, I did the research. In Australia, 19% of women aged 18 to 24 experienced and act of violence in the last year!

These stats are insane!

Here is 10 ways to prevent them form happening to you!

1.  Do not wear revealing clothing. It does nothing but draw attention.

2. Be paranoid. If you think someone is following you, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Drive right to the police station.

3.  Never hitch hike or pick up a hitch hiker!

4. Drive in a courteous manner. Don’t look at anyone, don’t argue with anyone or give any type of gesture if annoyed or bothered by another driver. This can cause them to follow you.

5. Give your self an even chance in case you are attacked. Don’t take any drugs, drink excessive amounts of alcohol. It’s hard enough to defend yourself when you’re sober.

6. After shopping, don’t sit in the car and balance your check book or talk on your cell phone. The predator will be watching you, as soon as you get in the car, lock the doors and leave!

7. Make sure your mail is addressed by just your first initial. Never allow mail to be addressed to you with salutation like MISS, MRS, or MS. Why allow one extra shred of information.

8. Do not flirt.  This can be taken the wrong way.

9. Continually take a self defense course.

10. Be aware of your surroundings. To often women are preoccupied, and are not observing their surroundings.

Do me a favor and don’t just read this.

Write down the 10 tips and pass it on to everyone you know.

Email it to all your contacts and ask them to do the same. Our goal is to make everyone more aware and if everyone works together a difference can be made!

A Special Student

August 3, 2007

I would just like to thank God for helping a special student. This student is the most talented martial artist I have ever had the pleasure of training. Not only is she talented in the martial arts, she also has a Black Belt attitude in life. Being faced a week ago with the possibility of having a tumor in her brain, we have recieved great news that that is not the case.

When I heard the news (that it was not a tumor), I was so happy for her and her family. They are one of the best families I have ever been involved with in my 12 years of teaching martial arts. Please keep them in your prayers as they continue to go to follow up appointments with doctors and other meetings to make sure that this will never give her any challanges in the future!
